About Us

Our Vision

International Alliance for Freedom in Home Education was born out of a desire to see children from all around the world have a chance to experience the joy and flourishing that home education brings. Our goal is to preserve and protect home education freedoms for generations to come.

Our Cause

While home education is currently the fastest growing form of education in the United States, certain agenda-driven groups with anti-family values have taken the opportunity to intensify their attacks on homeschool freedoms. In Illinois and Connecticut, for example, homeschool families find themselves defending basic home education freedoms and rights considered fundamental and unalienable just a short while ago.

Groups like the Boston, Massachusetts-based Coalition for Responsible Home Education (CRHE), consider most home educators to be what they call "Parental Rights Extremists," and seek to undermine fundamental freedoms and parental rights under the false pretense of preventing child abuse. A deep dive into their background shows alignment with radical leftist organizations like Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ+, while a cursory run through their website reveals an agenda bent on promoting legislation that would force parents to waive their guaranteed First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment protections just for the 'privilege' of home educating their own children. If their model bill, which they are peddling to legislatures across the nation, is enacted, we will find that they are the true "parental rights extremists" because the bill would create an entirely new legal precedent where parents must effectively acquire a permit to train their own children. In fact, the language of their model bill is so egregious it would create measures that could be interpreted to force parents to align their children's education with woke ideologies and radical leftist policies under threat of their children being forced to attend government schools for three years and/or having their children removed from the home. (You can review their model legislation proposal here.)

The International Alliance for Freedom in Home Education was born out of the need to stand against these attacks with an approach that not only defends against bad laws, but that also takes home education freedoms to the next level. We see Home Education as a God-given, unalienable right of families and we are working to codify and reinforce that right at the local and national level in each sphere of government. From the County, to the local Church, and in the Family, we are casting a vision for creating systems of self-government for home education within these spheres, spheres which have been forgotten in the last few generations. It's time for families and churches to rise up and start flourishing in the jurisdictions over which they are intended to preside.

Our Beliefs

  • We believe that children are made in the image of God. They are therefore worthy of an education that affirms their value in belonging to God, and as their value originates from their Creator, it is inalienable from their person.
  • We believe the right to define, determine, design, direct and delegate the education of children is fundamental and a priori to the parents and families to whom they belong and not to the State.
  • We believe education is natural and common to the family first and is therefore the family's Sovereign dominion and jurisdiction and that this principle is affirmed by the Laws of Nature and Nature's God. We, therefore, believe that education can never be inherent to the dominion of the State or other jurisdictions. While families may choose to delegate portions of their children's education to different jurisdictions, the choice to do so should never be by coercion, without due process, by infringement of God-given liberty, or intrusion into the sphere of the home through overreaching regulation or other means.
  • We believe that all education is religious and associative in nature, whether it is aligned with principles of secular humanism, Christianity, or other beliefs and ideologies and whether it is administered by the State, private schools, churches, or families, so that home education is, among other freedoms, an expression of religious freedom and freedom of association and is thereby protected by the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights in the United States.
  • We believe that loving our fellow man compels us to expose and oppose any law or proposed law, any form of education or education system, or any group or ideology that harms or could harm children and that, to the best of our ability we should seek to equip and empower families, communities, and churches with the tools and vision to create systems of education that do no harm.
